Rausch Creek Vs. Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area...

I am fortunate in the fact that I live just 10 minutes from AOAA, and about 1/2 hour from Rausch Creek. Last year I had the 1 year membership ($100) for AOAA, and used it about 7 or 8 times. I (and wife) stuck to the very easy trails but managed to hit just about all of the trials on the eastern part of the property. This year I am hoping they get access to the western property because I believe that is where some of the better trails are.

I see Rausch Creek has a $15 membership, but you are charged $35 every time you go there. I was at Rausch Creek about 7 or 8 years ago as a passenger and had a great time..and I recall a lot of challenging trails.

My question is, has anyone experience both of these park, and what are the pros and con's of each one. .

Here are a few of my Pro's & Con's

Rausch:
Pro: endless miles of trails from easy to hard.
Pro: great scenery
Con: $35 every visit
Con: always need 2 vehicles per group

AOAA:
Pro: yearly 1 time fee ( if you choose too)
Pro: do not need 2 vehicles, can travel alone
Pro: great Scenery ( west side has the Whaleback when it opens)
Pro: super close to home
Con: Western side still not accessible
Con: limited trail's (see above)
Con: Doesn't seem like they get the crowd like RC

And finally....is anyone interested in a jeeepin partner(s) for random weekends this Summer...not to hardcore since I still have 3 years of payments, but still like to have a good time and discuss jeep builds??

Couple of weeks. I would like to gather a few and head to RC with some people who know their way around. Would also be nice to gather some people from Harrisburg area and show them AOAA. It is a good place, your right, not a ton of full size vehicles. I have always gone out myself except for the Jeep Jamboree and Wheelin 4 wishes last year. Always more fun in a crowd.

Lets send out some PM's and see what kind of group we can get together. That is 3 weeks out. Rausch Creek, Saturday May 16th. We talking Green Trails?

Das, sorry your thread isn't going the way of the original post. With contacting some people for RC, we will probably get the info you want.

The group we gather for RC can come back together in July at AOAA.

Got your pm. I'll have to check if I can or can't. But that's also the weekend of the wrangler forum / American Jeepers ride that goldensahara organizes so it may not be the best weekend. Or we all could just join up with them.

Ok guys, I Pm'd and heard back from Goldensahara. There is a ride at RC that weekend. They are camping out 5/15-5/17. I can only make that Saturday, but I am down to show up on Saturday. Looks like we could have quite a nice sized group so everyone can do trails they are comfortable with hitting.

Saturday sounds like a plan to me. I will pm you as the time gets closer and we can get each others info. Anyone else interested in joining up on the 16th at RC let us know.
I'm not sure now but I'm guna try to make it.

Not to dissuade you all but there's also the JK Freaks event at Rausch Creek 5/16-5/17. There'll be 136 jeeps there just for that event. Not sure how many will be participating in the Goldensahara ride. Just giving you all a heads up so you can plan better.

I'm here now, you can come up tonight and stay at the campsite or show up in the morning. Closest to seven as you can would be good.

Edit: my whole crew cancelled on me so I'm at the campsite with no one to wheel with tomorrow. So if anyone wants to keep it fairly mild, message me and I'll give you my phone number for texting and such.
