State college trails

I'm a student at penn state, just trying to find some trails to hit on the weekends.

i'd try up in rothrock, get one of the purple lizard maps they sell at appalachian outdoors. google satelilite view should have some stuff. I'd be careful in the spring once it warms up becuase a few years back they found a bunch of weed plots with armed guards. (no jokes)

Post up if you find any please. I could be wrong but I think most of rothrocks trails are gated for most of the year (except hunting season). I live over the mountain in Huntingdon (part of the time anyhow). And really haven't found much locally. When I was in college (Juniata) we used to run some powerlines outside of huntingdon but.... I wouldn't suggest it some local land owners seemed to crack down on that.

The other place I run trails is out by loch haven in the bald eagle state forest. But most of them are dead ends anyhow, we usually drive them then hunt or hike from there.

Have you checked up behind tussey mountain sky? I am pretty sure there are some hunting camps on state forest ground up in there. Might be a public access somewhere over that way.

Come over towards Johnstown/ebensburg to rock run sometime. It's in Patton. Should be around an hour or a little more for you. There are some state park roads up by you like have been mentioned. Otherwise I don't know much in the area.

Message me if you want more info.

It will end up being 2 hours almost from penn state and I do not know anyone who really wheels it but I'm pretty sure I know where you mean. Lots of trails in this area though! If he is gona come down this way I can show him some locals.

I have a few friends up there I will ask to double check though. But rock run will be a bit closer and has legit trails etc. very fun.

Yeah Altoona is a lot closer haha. I live between the two. And they are in separate valleys so no straight shot between them sadly... But lots of wheeling in there.
