We should have some good mud this weekend. I hope to get out and make sure my transfer case works.

FB:
WNY 4wd (Buf)

WNY 4x4 (Buf)

Jeep Wrangler Club of WNY (JWCWNY) (Buf)

WNYOffroad.org (Buf)
Fingerlakes4x4.org (Roc)
Roc Jeeps (im not sure on site name or fb page) (Roc)

There are two clubs in elmira/corning
Twisted toys 4x4 and Back Country 4 wheelers

Wheeling options:

Whispering Pines (Lyons, Ny)
Wrangler Ave (Savona, Ny)
Specific to winter are Seasonal roads.

Some few times a year multiple private property open invite events.

Best thing I can recomend is follow along with the clubs. All events for the area they will notify of. Best bet is to start with the 3 FB based Buffalo area clubs. Especially WNY 4x4 as they are the most active local club in the area.

One thing to note about NY is that everything is private property or state land. All of which is closed to wheeling unless given permission.

Seasonal roads are a exception in that they are authorized by nys for motor vehicles but are not plowed in the winter

Hope to talk to you soon on one of the FB pages. Wrangler Ave is having a poker run/play day next weekend

Hi There-

I have been reading though the Jeep Buffalo thread and saw a post by XJ Knight regarding the name of an honest jeep (4x4) shop in the area. I tried to PM XJ Knight but box if full. If someone knows the name, can they please PM it to me?

Thanks!

I have a 2011 JK (bought last June with 28K miles from NF dealer...6 speed stock sahara)...I love it but having lots of problems and getting no help from dealer...latest issue I need to resolve ASAP is a death wobble (DW). I lost control on the thruway this morning and went off the road...lucky I was the only one involved. This happened AFTER the dealer replaced the steering shock. Took it back to the dealer today and they suggested $2K of repairs...steering box and new ball joints. The first time the DW happened I had my two young childern with me...I'm still shaking. I would like to have someone (other than the dealer) install a bolt kit which, from what I read, is the next best step.

I'm in Lancaster.

Thanks again for any suggestions!

Dino

Hey Dino,
You can try a place called 4x4 and SUV in Darien. Guy named Matt's the owner/operator. He's done a couple things for me and I would recommend him.

Jeep dealers tend to be pretty useless sadly. Sorry about the PM box. I don't come on here much at all anymore. However I will make room in my inbox In order to be of any help I can be in the future.

^ Dino this is where I would recommend as well given where you are. None better thrn Matt when it comes to public Jeep/4x4 shops. Quad 4 Wheel Drive in Lancaster (Erie St) is another good option. Midnight Oil in Orchard Park (Abbott and 20a) comes to mind as well. There's a place in Clarence but im drawing a blank on the name right now.Your

WP is a fun little trail park. Can be a good challenge when wet and very difficult in the winter.

Wrangler Ave is the other public trail park in WNY located in Savona NY

Is anyone else going to bantam jeep festival next week end.

It is only 2.5 hours south of buffalo and it is a good time, about 1500 jeeps participate, vendors are there, they have trails set up, and a bunch of other stuff...

Hey Bluefish.. I'm in the same boat. I'm from San Diego CA. And there aint squat out here for 4 wheeling. There's an off road park called "Whispering Pines" someplace near Rochester I believe. I haven't been there but that looks like the best option. There's another called "Metowee", I believe it is further east. But nothing like So Cal!! Welcome to NY!!

Smile Buffalo living.

I'll be moving to buffalo by next month for school. I'm praying my little four cylinder will be able to keep up with the rest of traffic haha.

I've got a 2.5 4 cylinder in manual, even with 2 cylinder misfires it can hold its own with traffic. I am getting those fixed soon though

Monica, I agree with Beepin Jeepin! Traffic out here is "easy"! At least from San Diego to Syracuse it is.. I'm sure you won't have any problems.. Welcome to the area! Beepin Jeepin.. Have you ever been to Whispering Pines? I'm curious about hill climbs, how large an area and how many trails?

I actually just moved to erie, PA and haven't had a chance to go out mudding around here yet. Whispering pines is 4 hours away, but I'm definitely interested in going at some point. If you check it out first hit me up and let me know how it was.
