Clutch help

So I have a 92 YJ and I had clutch problems, I bought a new one with a Slave from Napa Auto, I had my nieghbor, who is a liscened mechanic install it. Charged me $500 for labour but something just aint right. I have a clicking sound when the clutch is not pressed and I have difficulty shifting into 2nd. I need a mechanic on Long Island that knows what he's doing with Jeeps. Any suggestions?

What was your original problem that prompted you to change the clutch and slave? Were those the only two parts that were changed? What does your licensed mechanic neighbor say about the clicking sound and the difficulty shifting into second gear?

make sure you tell the guy that did it. Even if you want a second opinion. You might trigger a memory and he'd think "yeah I wondered about that while I was working on it..."

The original problem was it started grindind when I released the cluth from 1st to 2nd, then is was hard to reverse. Next I lost 2nd and reverse. Since I changed the cluth I'm having the same problem with 2nd but not so bad. My mech said the clicking is probably from a bad Slave, which is new, or it might need to be broken in.
