Hey everyone.. Hope we all had a great summer..and to end the summer with a bang, my clutch blew..it's the original with about 140,000k on it..I brought it to a friend of my cousin and he wants to charge me $800 to fix it..too much for my blood..I know I can get a new Luk clutch for $165..how hard is it to put in?

U need to drop both driveshafts, drop the transmission and transfer case, and remove clutch and flywheel. Then have the flywheel cut, and reassemble in reverse order. While you are apart, you may want to replace the pilot bearing and throw-out bearing. (preventative maintainence)

$800 is pretty good as long as he cuts the flywheel and replaces those bearings. Unless you have the equipment and a weekend (or more) to do the job on your back in the driveway. At least it happened now instead of the middle of the winter. That job SUCKS in the cold! Lol

I know that cost is an issue, but some mechanics live to take advantage of women. You get what you pay for. Make sure they do the right thing for you

Bush, now ya gotta bring it over and test those things out. Won't laugh at ya if you get stuck and need the hook, mine got stuck and had to be yanked out twice within a hundred feet in the newset section and I was on new 37's! Funny thing is the mud is only about 4 inches deep but it is just so slippery and once you stop you can't get going again.

Sounds like we need a plan! Bonfire, beer, bbq, and oh yeah some jeep stuff... We have a nice new section that will twist your suspension all the way to the bumpstops!

No open diff jeep has crawled the whole section yet, you won't get stuck just can't move forward. If you have a rear locker it's easy but you will tripod all the way through unless you have serious articulation. The only jeep that hasn't gone tripod is Kyle. Look up 09mikd on youtube, "jeep yj close to roll". James was pushing it and crossing the track sideways, what could go wrong...

Haha, you'll be fine. Dead stock with a rear locker walks right through. James loves to push it and see how close to the edge he can get, makes for awesome pics and vids. You have a lift and 37's, would be cake.

This Saturday is the great American jeep rally, hoping to attend. If I don't end up going then sure we can wheel here.
