If you want to drive your jeep over rocks the size of a house (not kidding) this is it. This is the "tower trail" and likely to be the coolest trail you ever do with your jeep.

Yes, open diff have made it just a tough and intimidating climb. Pm James, don't think you need to bring anything other than a will to work. Trust me when I say that if you didn't see the jeep in front of you do it you would assume it is not possible. Some of the rocks can not be walked up on foot but a jeep can do it, sometimes weather dependant if the rocks are cold or wet it ain't happening. Very fun trail, makes my adrenalin pump hard enough that my hands sometimes shake after climbing it.

Sorry that I couldn't make it out to help James. I've been missing out on some really good runs due to scheduling conflicts. Very frustrating!!!! Really missing Mike's playground too!!!

We might be out on the prop this Sunday, hoping it rains so it's slippery!

New Windsor (Orange County) here. Got a lifted 2 door JK on 35s that I never have time to wheel, MikD can vouch for that! ha ha. With work, college, two kids and a wife I never have time to do much of anything.

If anyone is interested, the dealer where I bought my jeep has organized an event where you can drive your jeep up hunter mountain. You get breakfast before we leave, a t - shirt, and a BBQ lunch at the top of the mt. I doubt the trails will be super difficult, so it should be doable by any jeep. Only bad is its 175 per jeep. Not terrible, but not cheap. Its next sunday the 14th, so let me know asap if you want in or more info.

Here is the message they sent me:

You are invited to join us for this "ultimate day of adventure" to the summit of Hunter Mountain in your Jeep Wrangler on Sunday, Oct 14th.

Your day will start at Ruge's Chrysler Dodge Jeep with a complimentary breakfast then we'll start making our trek to the seasonal Platte Cove Road over to Hunter Mountain.

Once at Hunter we will go to the remote West Side logging road where we will keep a watch out for mud passes, stream crossings and steep hills as we reach the summit.

At the summit we will enjoy not only a 360 degree view but a gourmet BBQ lunch featuring Bone-in Rib-Eye, Chicken Legs and more by a great fire with S'mors to follow.

If you ever wanted to go off roading with your Wrangler but never felt comfortable by yourself here would be a great opportunity to do that with experts.

Please note that availability is LIMITED

Date: Sunday, Oct 14th 2012
Time : 8:00 am
Place : Ruge's Chrysler Dodge Jeep - Routes 9 & 9G - Rhinebeck
Ruge's will provide you with a complimentary breakfast and a event tee shirt.
Cost : $175 including driver ? $75 per passenger

The dealer I worked with got them to waive the passenger fee after I told them it was a little outrageous, and I think numbers were weak. I was also told the majority of the price was what Hunter was charging and they had no control over that. I cant imagine we will be gone past 5, but I really have no idea.

Complimentary breakfast? LOL! That's one damn expensive side of eggs and coffee! I'd rather spend the $175 on Jeep mods, what in the world is costing Ruge's $175 to let people drive their OWN vehicles up a trail using their OWN gas and get a T-shirt and breakfast out of it??? Love the Jeep community but $175 is a bit steep...but then again it's a dealership running it. And if you wanna bring a buddy $75 WTF my buddy better be getting a happy ending for that price! HAAHAHAH

Now if it was MikD charging thats a different story :-) his trails probably destroy any crap on Hunter Mountain! Sorry folks no offense but $175 is ridiculous!!!!

I'm doing Rausch Creek that weekend for $35/day.

Gonna wheel here again this Saturday. The twister keeps getting easier as it fills in, a stocker with a limited slip rear just might make it now. Anybody up for it...

Time to cut a go around for the newest mud section as it has proven just too difficult for 95% of the jeeps that try it. Dont want to make it too easy but dont want to have to winch everyone through either.

I have to work this weekend since the reservists will be in but I might be able to cut out early. If I can I'll be there.
