I want a leveling kit for now but once my BFG MTs start going. Only 1200 miles on the tires now, I will tackle some new wheels tires and lift!

Can my JK make it through some of your trails stock? Plus its always nice to see what others are doing to theirs to spark some more ideas.
Just an FYI that Newburgh Park Motors performed the TSB for the 1st and 2nd gear synchros in my JK tranny. They screwed it up so bad that I had to have the entire tranny replaced. It was obviously screwed when I picked it up and they refused to acknowledge it. I took it to Healey Brothers in Beacon and they replaced the tranny no questions asked. The TSB was performed wrong with several other parts damaged in the process. A new tranny was cheaper than all the parts required to fix it.

The guys at Healey Brothers have been great so far.

Do you know if I can take my Jeep to any other dealer for service? May sound stupid but I thought I had to bring my Jeep to where I purchased the vehicle. I honestly don't want to go back to Rockland Jeep again. I would definitely go to Healey, if I can!

Yes you can make it through most of the trails, for the tougher ones you just park your rig and hop in another jeep. The trails are all loops so you end up back at your rig anyway. Most of the obstacles you will not do unless you are in a Rubi and they really aren't stock even when stock. Trust me when I tell you that it is most likely that the jeep is more capable than you are willing to try. Not a put down at all, just takes some time and practice to realize what these things can do. Along with a leveling kit pick up a set of quick disconects, I think the rough country ones start at around $60. This will allow your front axle to articulate as well as provide a nicer ride and far less abuse to your machine when wheeling. MT tires, a budget boost (leveling kit), and quick discos will have your stock rig performing pretty damn well on the trail. A cheap cb radio goes a long way on trails rides too, especially when its cold out...

I'll either head over to 260 auto inc in haverstraw, central auto in pearl river. My buddy said his friend just opened up a repair shop in nanuet. Next time I think I'll head over there. I'm not sure of the name yet for them though.

Right near Stewart the Airport theres an AWESOME guy who works on Jeeps specifically, my buddies with TJ's swear by him. The guy knows Jeeps inside and out the stuff he fixed and diagnosed on my friends Jeeps amazes me. My Jeep is too new to need any work so I personally havent used him except for oil changes for my other cars. The guy literally lives and breathes Jeeps and his prices are amazingly fair. 845-567-1399

If you want it done by a dealer I second Healey in Beacon. They put a 3" lift on my 2013 before I even picked it up. I provided the lift and tires for the install. There was an issue but they took care of it. Ask for Pete the service advisor and he can probably give you a number for the install over the phone. Tell him Mike with the DCR Rubicon sent you.

Hey I just got a 08 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. So that means I am totally wet behind the ears to mods and off roading. Where is a good first time place to go to in Orange or Dutchess Co?

If you page back throughthis thread you'll see a fair bit of local wheeling. Your in Washingtonvile, roughly 10min from my place where we wheel sometimes. Watch this thread for the next wheelin day, usually Saturdays and stop by. This is a good spot for 101 type stuff. Next run should be a week from this Saturday. What type of wheelin are you looking for and what are your plans for mods to the new toy? Welcome to the forum.

Yea Rock Tavern is right around the corner. I live right off Beattie Road (off 207). As far as Mods and what not, I am totally in the air about all that. I want it all! I am looking to link up with some local guys and actually talk to people who know whats going on and take it from there. I will not be able to make the 27th as my best bud is getting back from a tour in Afghanistan and we will be.... um.... taking a run of our own. haha I'll keep my eyes peeled on this thread and look forward to meeting you.

I spoke to someone today who told me to wait on the leveling kit till I hit 36k but I'm at 8K and extremely impatient. I want to get it on there and bring what I imagine my Jeep looking like to life, for now.
I just bought my Jeep from Rockland dealership. Service department is no good.

I can't head out there this weekend, I can only get a few hours this weekend for any me time, not a whole day.

We'll have to try another weekend.

They are the worst. If you want to mod, don't ever bring your Jeep there, they will give you a hassle for anything you do.

I'd go up to Healey if I were you, it's not that far from Rockland.

Good luck!
