Permits have been available for years but that is changing as the area is being turned into an off road park. Scheduled to open any time now. There was a jeep jamboree held there over the summer to test out some of the areas trails.

Guess I will have to keep checking around but I emailed the people from the link posted and I definitely need insurance on my quad to ride there ontop of the permit also.

Get the permit for your truck, it is already registered and insured. The permit is left on the dash of the truck and a sticker is applied to your helmet. No will ask you for your permit or ever check it but it is nice to know you are legal.

did some light trail driving this weekend with a friend (mostly quad routes by us) and in our travels we couldnt help but notice all of the perfectly clear trails that travel under the power lines in the red hook rhinebeck area.. from slate quarry road and north.. look like they stay away from houses and eveyone else.. just rolling hills with a path.. has anyone ever headed out these and are there any issues.. going by its hard to resist turning right off and traveling as the bird flies

Powerline trails are often pretty tough and almost always illegal, that being said some of them are awesome fun for wheelers. Try and get somebody to go with you, having a second rig to give you a pull if you get hung up can be priceless especially if you are stuck in a questionable location. Or, you can drive 45min north to my place next time we wheel and test your skillz without the hassle.

That will be very cool. Do you know if the state will run it, or is the property staying with Reading?

Five, I believe it will be private but not sure.

Wbeers, stock with 30's is fine. The trails were set up with a stock vehicle in mind, yes there are trails that would give you a hard time but you dont have to run them. Every trail is a loop that circles back, so no pressure to keep up with the group.

Hey Rooz was that your first time night wheelin and being there for the whole tunnel/fire deal? Night wheelin is great seems like all new trails and the darkness on the drop offs is great fun especially when you have a passenger. What was her reaction to wheelin?

Hey MikD you think I can come over on a wheeling saturday one weekend and you can help me pop in my budget boost? I really dont have the tools to do it, and I could just send it to a shop but I'd really like to actually work on my rig and have you supervise :-) I got Rancho 9000's (4) and also took Kyles advice about the Springs 18/59's to pop in. You think it's a difficult job?

Hey man its the guy you gave those kc covers to lol i would add lca correction brackets to that list maybe. You might get a good bit of lift from the unlimited springs and a bb. Mike will chime in if he thinks youd benefit from them but i think ya might.
