Is there anyone near St James that would be able to check out an unlimited at Smith Haven Dodge? I'm 2 hours away & it would save me a trip. Thanks

let me clarify- when I was shopping, they quoted me 2k for a LESSER vehicle than what I was quoted over at huntington. They really push the hard sell, and knew very little about wranglers. In fact, they tried to unload a lifted wrangler JKU with CHROME mirrors and light guards on me for 37k. Landed a Rubi for much less with Huntington jeep, and they did right by me as far as adding a few extras like heated seats and the tow package.

One last thing- Smithhaven is notirious for extra fees after the sale, like a destination charge (i think that was the one) which jacks your actual number up after you sign on the line. Careful over there buddy- this is actually my first ever negative online "review" but they left such a sour taste in my mouth I will never set foot in there again.

I second that Smithhaven sucks. They screwed with me on my trade in underbidding by $2k. Trying to throw all bogus numbers at me on lease. Called bluff on both and they were shocked. I explained were they should be getting numbers from and why there fees are bullshit. They asked if I was in the business...told them no just dealing with shady salesmen for 20 yrs.

Walked out and went to Port Jeff Jeep the next day. Great experience and big selection.

Thanks for the info. It's a used '06 at Smithhaven but I'll stay away anyway.

less than thrilled with Smithhaven, and went to Huntington Jeep too. I wound up with a way better price and experience.

Great car show and swap meet today at the airport. Of course everytime someone had jeep parts I was one minute too late. Just doing some body work on the toy today. Don't know what the last owner was thinking! I think a lift is the next order of business.

Tried to get people together, but no one seems to want to do anything. Maybe a morning meeting for breakfast, with a ride out East just to meet everyone.

Agreed about staying away from Smith Haven. Bought a used '07 a couple years back and paid a lot for extended warrantee.
Two days later, I got a call from the finance department saying they forgot to charge me for something and I owe them $400. Should have told him, "too bad, your mistake" but I was just so excited to finally get my Jeep. So, I paid it.

Got a recall notice on something minor 4 weeks after driving it off the lot. Took it in, they fixed it and told me that I need new brakes. I had put less than 2500 miles on it.

A month later I was getting a check engine warning only after I was 4-wheeling on the beach. Took it in, they fixed it. Warrantee should have covered it in full. They never mentioned the $150 deductable.
Wish I never paid extra for that because I will never go back there. Crooks!!!!!!

2011 Sahara Unlimited. Loving the color, Mango Tango. Bought at Smithaven but not impressed with the team there. Missing soft top so they give parts to a factory top and parts from a Bestop and expected me to install it. I have no problems reading direct

They also failed to tape the temp regi to the window. Good times but still loving my jeep.

I've said it 100 times- NEVER set foot in that place. They are shady at best, outright rip-off artists at worst. At least you made it out of there with a great vehicle. Deal with Huntington from now on.

JimmyJG,

I bought a brand new 2012 JKU at Smithhaven and had a similar experience. Being new to wranglers, assumed everything was rolled up in the soft top that was sitting under the hard top! NOPE! When I took the hard top off a couple months later realized all the soft top pieces were missing. Went back to Smithhaven and my salesman did some kind of shady swap in the back lot after dark and took the pieces out of another JKU. So the guy buying that JKU was going to go throughout the same BS as I did. I couldn't believe it. Next time I'm going to Brown's!

lol, awesome... When I called to ask about the soft top, the guy on the phone says, "just look up, it's there". I said, "are you kidding me?? I would know if I saw a soft top in there". I was told I could pick it up. I get there Saturday and the sales guy tells me, "oh you have to come back on Monday, the guy with the key isn't here today". I said, "seriously?? One guy? One key??" They are killing the experience of having a Jeep (not really cuz I still love it). Oh btw, I sold my Mercedes CLK convertible so I could have a Jeep.
