Subwoofer Install Help In Highland

Hey fellow Jeepers - I just got this subwoofer Sound Ordnance B-8PTD 125-watt compact powered subwoofer at Crutchfield.com for my 2010 2 door JK. I recently installed aftermarket speakers but I have never installed electrical equipment like this and am a bit nervous doing it myself. I was hoping someone with experience could lend a hand in exchange for lunch or some cash, or someone could recommend a place I can bring it. I live in Highland in Ulster county. I'm sure if they would even do it, the dealer by me would charge me more than I paid for the unit. Trying to save a little. Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert but I can lend a hand. Is your sound system all stock aside from this and the speakers?

If your head unit has a sub out.... Run a single RCA and 8 awg power and ground. Does this unit require a 12 volt trigger/Remote turn on? If so, connect it too. A good amp install kit will contain all necessary wiring. Terminate power at the amp and use an inline fuse with 18 inches of the positive battery terminal.

If your head unit does not have a sub out... You can use PAC adapters and bring your single as a high level out via speaker wire. Avoid this method if possible as it is not the best method and can introduce unwanted noise and degrade the sound quality.

If your HU doesn't have RCA sub outs(most stock Headunits don't have them), or if your amp doesn't allow speaker level inputs, then I would recommend an LOC. You'll also need to properly power your amp.
