    yepper, that's the one. pilots name was vaden. hence the call sign of darth. there was a big stink. we did an airshow/dependants cruise and one of my crewmen wanted his wife to watch him fly. the choice was, he flew with no dependants or no fly with dependants. that accident changed the way the navy did some things. mike

    i remember watching a harrier crash in the water 30 feet off the port side,we where doing a family dependants cruise off the coast of san diego and the marine pilots wife and daughter were on board,i had just came up for fresh air after getting relieved of my watch in the forward pit.give me a call sometime,i would love to talk sometime,rick 615-512-6825

    yo neo! i was on belleau wood and peleliu.78-83. aircrew. flew aboard tarawa many times. like the day the harrier hit the side. we were assigned sar that day as your helo was transporting folks to and from the beach. where you at now. i lived in los alamitos to be close to the helo. mike

    i was in the navy 78 to 82.went to boot san diego,boiler tech A school great lakes.served on the uss tarawa lha-1 from 79 to 82 home ported san diego,west pac 79 and west pac 80-81.fininished up in the yards at long beach.happy jeepin to ya chief, rick
