    thanks a lot for your help - ill check it out -
    have you looked at the back of the speedo? or where it hooks to the txfr case? could be disconnected at either end. there is a gear on the txfr case end of the cable. they are made of nylon. it could be worn out. removal instructions should be in the chiltons.

    its mechanical i think - looks like an e-brake line going right to the firewall..
    on the guage lights, clean all connections. max salt invironment where you are. is your speedo mechanical or ecectronic? coming out of your transfer case there is either a mechanical cable or a 3 wire plug. which do you have?
    which headlight works both hi and low?on your elec schem you'll see that the left light is the "master". the right is jumpered. pin "b" is the low beams. check the plug foe power at "b" with dims on. if you have it on both, one of the bulbs is most likely the culprit.these are wire nos 77 for dim(light green) and 76 for bright(white/red).

    hey navychief... im currently in the navy - E5 now - just got done with my my 2nd ship in guam, about to go shore in hawaii thank goodness -

    anyway- having trouble with a few things on my 87yj 4.2l...i got the chiltons but i don't understand some things - it seems i have a short somplace - my high beams work, but lowbeams onnly one headlight - and gauge lights are shaky - not to mention speedo and oil and temp don't work.. any simple way to tackle these? i really want to clean up these electronic issues - and not sure where to start -
