I'll probably go with Warn if I get a winch. Apparently they have great customer support. The made in USA or made in China thread I posted was really a result of a facebook post from my niece urging a boycott of Chinese products. Tough to do entirely now since almost any durable good has some part made in China.
a grand cherokee, SWEET!!! not a bad tow rig. adam built the trailer we have and it cost us about $500. you can get a used 16' trailer or car dolly for pretty cheap. i would scour craiglist and the local newspaper to see what is out there. as far as the winch goes, warn is the premier name in winches, and once mine craps out on me, i would like to upgrade to a warn. as of right now, i have the superwinch 8500 lb. it is a good winch, but as of late, i am really trying to keep my purchases to items that are manufactured in the USA. the less $$$ we, as a country, give to china, the better.
Just got one. Mary tells me that if I am going to do anymore offraoding, she wants a way to get home if I break the wranger. So we traded my car for a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7L engine and tow package. Now I'll need to buy a trailer. Plus I broke a swaybar link at the jamboree, so I have a RE Gen II disco to install once I get the old links out. I'm thinking some of the front end might get some primer and paint too. Saw the utility of a winch at the jamboree, I am thinking about getting either a superwinch LP8500 or a Warn M8000. If I get the Rough Country mounting plate, I can keep my OEM fron tow hooks. Will be much more affordable with the RC plate and the superwinch than going with Warn plate and winch, but I know how much of this forum leans when it comes to winches.
