Wow. Now I have even more questions. Last year I bought my 5th Jeep. I really love it, and have owned lifted jeeps before, both CJs and TJs, and never had too many problems. The jeep I have now is a 2002 TJ with what appears to be a d35 in the rear, and a 30 in front. The jeep has a total of 9 inches of lift, and easily clears my 37 inch Toyo MTs. Problem is, I don't know anything about the axles, although I do believe they have been re-geared. I do occasional mudding, usually to get to a deep wood or swamp fishing spot. Obviously though, I am going to be in need of upgrades. I'd like D44's both front and rear, with chrome moly shafts. Can I buy the used Dana's somewhere, then add the new shafts? I'm a crap mechanic, mostly because I grew up in a world where money didn't matter. I'm on my own now, and it does, so I need some help in affordably getting to where I need to be. Any advice, any direction would really help.
