argh! NOO! on thursday we went out to Ken's Lake, and i tried to convince my friends its only a few miles further to Behind The Rocks, and not much past that to Area BFE, but they werent having it! I was soo mad! We did happen to find a potential camping spot out towards the end of the "Potash" road, but its a long ways to go only to find that the spot could be taken already, cause its the only worth while camping spot out that way.

so to make a long story short, no, we didnt get to check out your spot. but the good news is, we make it out there a few times a year, so i will make sure i check it out next time!

Hey spanky, I was out on that trail on the weekend & read the sign, the camping is actually 2 miles from the sign board, just so you know,

Ok,The start of the trail is on the right off the hwy, so go through the gate past the board & the trail goes to the right. Follow along past the car parking area in the trees on the right. Then further on the road goes left & down a hill (don't go right on the behind the rocks trail) keep left & on the main trail, which could be marked behind the rocks trail as well. From this hill the camping is about 1 mile I guess & the area is fairly open. The dunes are on the right up further.
Get a map from the tourist info in town, the one I have is the" Moab East Trails Topo Map" it has all the trails & is well worth the money, you really need it Enjoy your stay, Julie

Hello again! Thanks for those GPS waypoints. Just so were strait here, those waypoints are for the start of Behind The Rocks Trail correct? So once we get to the start of the trail.... where do we go to get to those camping spots you referred to ?

Ok, I am copying the GPS waypoints out of the "guide to Moab backroads & 4 wheel drive trails" The turn off to Behind the rocks is on the right side of hwy 191 & is South of Moab but not as far as Hole N The rock, so if you get there you have gone too far. Waypoints : Start of trail-N 38deg 26.43' W109deg 25.79' Have a great time down here!

First off, we will be down there the week after Easter. April 21-26. Im sure we will end up at our usual spot because our entire party knows where it is, and will showing up at different intervals.
What I would like though is to go out and explore for a new spot for next time.
You wouldnt happen to have GPS for that spot @ Behind The Rocks ?
Ive got a few maps, I will need to dig up. We usually dont use maps, we just pick a trail, and drive it.

we make it down to moab a few times a year. i was curious if you knew of any cool camping spots? we are getting tired of going to the same place.
we usually camp near Klondike Bluffs if you know where thats at.
what would be ideal is an unimproved camping spot. something that is away from as many people as possible. there are usually at least a dozen of us that camp together. we are loud, and like to stay up late. also we take down guns. so being away from people is a must!

we have a rule that we WONT pay to camp any where. we dont need bathrooms, or running water or anything like that.

so if you got any suggestions, that would be great! thanks!
