BTW...I really had to temper my reply, due to the 1K word limit of conversations. If you send me a true PM in the future, not only will you get a quicker response (conversations don't show up via e-mail, but PMs do), you'll get more input.
Sorry for the delay...I've been shooting the playoffs, not watching them. NBA and NHL, and next Friday the 2nd week of Wimbledon. Haven't been here in awhile.
My 5100s are harsh. I like it that way...I want my Jeep to drive like a truck. I also run E-rated tires, which I wouldn't recommend, unless you know what you're getting.
As for the 16s, they're cheaper, they're lighter, they have a larger contact patch, compared to larger sizes. I don't rock crawl, and don't plan on ever going bigger than 35", so it was a no-brainer for me.
The ride quality, IMO, is negligible...35s aren't compatible with comfort. Period. The DuraTracs I run have been awesome in the snow. Probably the best snow tire I've ever had. We got about 70" of snow this last winter, and I had no issues.
The ORH top is awesome. Again, that's pretty subjective. Look at threads on it to see if it's right for you. I run mine year-round, and have no problems with cold, rain, etc.
I guess it goes without saying that your Jeep is very well thought out and does indeed ROCK! :-) I think I am going with the metalcloak lift, however- i'm not a fan of the ome color for the shocks. I like the shocks and think they would be great, however, I'm either painting them or buying a different brand to go with the MC lift. I was wondering how you liked your 5100s? Why did you choose them and how is the ride under normal driving conditions? I'm going to call MC Monday and ask them some pairing/tuning questions about it too. To my bigger question for you-tire size:why did you choose 16s over the 315/7017s? I am on the fence which ones to buy. Obviously the 16s are cheaper, but do you think the ride quality is better because there is more side wall to the tire? Just wondered your opinion.I'm in Michigan and have cold weather as you obviously-I think I'm sold on that fastback top as well-does it hold up against the rain/snow/cold weather?
Thanks and have fun watching the playoffs!
