I know what your meaning by extra wear and tear but on the new axles and the way they are designed they don't take the abuse like the older mid 80's to early 90's big 3 (ford,chevy,Dodge) 1/2 ton thru 1 tons and larger. They benefited from the lock outs but the way a jeep really only benefits from them is if you break something on the front end you can unlock them and get it home with broekn axle shafts blown carrier. Ohh they look cool tho
I was interested in the lockouts so that the front axels would not be turning all the time and only turning when in 4x4. I figured it would be less were and tear on the front end if I could simply disengage it when not needed. But at that kinda price I may as well leave it like it is. I am new to jeeps these last few years so I dont know a whole lot on how much the front end components go out.
I am running them correct- They are from a CJ-7. They will run you about 1000 bucks for the kit. They are not hard to install, the kit comes with a new knuckle so you just pull the old off and put the new one on then the new rotor (inner and outer bearings installed). IS there a reason you want it? I bought my front axle with it already on there.
