as far as the ax-15 holding up... its doing its job for what I use it for... I don't rock climb or play in the mud with it, I like to show the ricers a little bit every once in a while but that's about it. if you want to get into the mud or rocks I would suggest going nv 4500 or 4l80. if you have a heavy foot go ahead and get either 1 of them because the ax wont last... hope that helps.. oh and according to novak, they told me they used upgraded rings and gears, im assuming harder metal, but they have lied to me once before on other issues, so im unsure because I never dis-assembled the tranny to see what they said they did
I read your build thread several times. I am planning what you've done, except I plan to use an 05-06 Unlimited Rubicon as my start. I was happy to find your thread as you used the exact same engine I am planning.
I planned to use either a NV4500 or a 4L80e trans. I prefer the stick shift but I know the NV is a "truck" trans and wouldn't drive as nice as the AX15. I didn't think it would do well behind that LS3, especially at 480hp. Just wanted to ask how yours is holding up, and what you meant by saying it was built up. I've searched some but most results for "AX15 upgrade" lead to info about swapping in a NV trans.
Thanks for any help,
