Usually the top and bottom heat shields have a few chinsy spot welds around the edges to hold them to each-other and the cat. So yours might still be attached by some of those welds. Jiggle it and see if you can tell where it is loose, maybe you can just bend that part away from the cat a lil to prevent the noise. If its loose everywhere except one spot then try to keep bending it back and forth till the spot weld gives up.

|gotpepsi||How do you take that top part off, i wouldnt mind tossing that either. And The bottom of the cat is suppose to have that heat sheild also? so the whole cat is contained in that thin sheet of metal?|

|ratuna||Thats the heat shield for the cat. There is supposed to be one top and bottom welded together. Looks like your bottom half fell off, that happened to my Mustang I just took the top part off and tossed it.|

I found the exhaust rattle, now the fix?
Found the rattle, and its not the cat going out. Here is a picture, the rattle is coming from that thin sheet of metal connected to the cat. As you can see their is about a half inch gap between the cat and the metal sheet. Any ideas on how i can fix this? or an object that i can stick between the cat and the piece of metal to stop it from vibrating?
