those tuffdesigns look pretty slick.
I have a cargomaster congo rack and basket. I like the functionality, look, and extra room, but I gotta be honest in that they really create a lot of drag even when not loaded. my mileage went to complete crap even when not loaded. just something to keep in mind.
also, it might make your rig too tall to get into garage, drive thrus, etc.
the previous poster's concern regarding higher center of gravity with a roof rack is valid, and the same could be argued for a rear bumper carrier...if you're headed up a steep grade it could in theory drag you head over heels. Just saying. don't do heavy crawling with either one.

There is some rattle, especially when you don't have at least one full gas tank in place. Frankly I consider it to be pretty minor. This is a very solid unit with an excellent pivot point. I like the extra tie in to the Jeep frame. One thing to consider is that some installations require you to drop the gas tank to get the bolts in.
I've carried up to 75 pounds in the rack carrier without any issue.
The powder coat is as good as other products I've purchased from companies like Olympic. I did have some scratches on the front bumper I ordered due UPS being overly rough with the box. Easy to touch up......

|Jerry Bransford||Personally, on a Wrangler, I won't use any external carrier offroad. On the highway, I'd probably lean towards a roof top carrier. I'm no fan of any of the tire carrier racks, especially if any additional weight is placed onto the tailgate or spare tire.|

|Shokker||Wow that's pretty sweet. Good price too. I'd have enough left to get the front bumper with it. How is it holding up? Quality of the powder coat? The latch that holds the carrier to the bumper isn't getting loose or rattling?|

|Jerry Bransford||Keep in mind that a loaded roof rack significantly raises your center of gravity which if you're offroad might make the difference in rolling over or not.|

|bobjenkins||I got the garvin off Craigslist its great . It's the roof rack . I love it . Imo the tire carrier by garvin is great but there are alternatives that are a bit cheaper. Depends if you need the space a roof rack offers or not .|

Torn between roof rack vs tire carrier rack
I'm lookin to get either a roof rack (garvin) or some form of tire carrier with cooler rack. Can get the garvin roof rack for about 800 but the tire carrier with cooler/Jerry can rack ends up like 1500. Was thinking the roof then a less expensive tire carrier/bumper combo. Now I hear u can get a cooler rack that works with most tire carriers vs one integrated (like hansen or garvin). Trying to get the most bang for the buck...
