Schmo I always use loctite on them . . . don't over torque . . . doesn't take much to snap the heads off those bolts.

Gary2 From the rear side of the skid plate you can stick your head up there with a light and see the bolts . You will be working kind of blind as you can't see when you put your hand in . I do the transfer case bolts first with trans in neutral , brake off that way I can put my foot on a tire and push the jeep to make the DS rotate so you can get all of the bolts and you wont have to hold the ds still the Jeep will do it then do the front . The 8mm slipped and I tore up my hands pretty good on the first bolt . I found a 5/16 was a much better fit to break them loose with a glove on.

B4x4wrangler Whenever i reinstall the bolts should i use loctite or anything?

EdJonesJeeper It should just be 4 - 8mm bolts on the cardigan (sp) ujoint 5/16" might work. (Its the big elbow thing before the yoke to the transfer case) Then take the four near the axle and compress the shaft and it should come out.

Driveshaft and U-Joint Question

Im thinking about trying to attempt to changing out my front u-joint going from my front drive shaft to my front diff. My question is, i was planning on taking the drive shaft out completely. But i got underneth my jeep and looked and i cant tell how to get the other end my my drive shaft off going to my transfer case. Anyone have any tips or pointers?
