Alboy79 we averaged 9-10mpg. the four of us alternated driving. drove straight out. stayed in a cabin at Moab Valley RV Resort, right inside of town across the river. the cabin had a queen bed, a full bed, and bunk beds. also had a fridge, cable tv, and a grill.
we ate out for breakfast every day, and we ate out for dinner all but one day(which we grilled). then we drove straight through on the way home, again alternating drivers.
we had the lodging and fuel budgeted before we left, and we came within 15$ of our budgeted fuel.

we split gas in the trail rigs for 7 days. then each paid for our own fuel, our souveniers, and our own tattoos.

i only spent 800$ for a 10day trip.

phittie1100 Dad and I drove the LJ to Manchester NH in 2008 for the UFWDA meeting...700+ miles each way. My buttocks feel your pain!

And yes, my tires are huge - 32.8" brand new at 45psi. The label says 33, so that's what I call them!
10-29-2012 01:18 PM
Alboy79 Ps... my what do you know about undersized tires... your tires are huge compared to mine

We have been running sample budgets for drive the Jeep/stay in motels; drive the Jeep/pull the camper/replace the transmission when we get home; or trailer the Jeep behind the Durango to see what makes sense. As much as I would like to tow my off-highway popup out there and camp someplace cool and remote, just not sure I want to tow my camper through the Rockies with I6/42RLE combo. Already rebuilt the trans twice...

ill be going to CO next year as well if they set that up. wife and i already have time off work. i just dont wanna drive my jeep that far period 700 miles to PA was far enough.

Yeah, a touch. But, hey, the price was right!

Should have the frame work done in another couple weeks - clean-up, patching, reinforcing, and painting - and then it's on to rebuilding the leaf springs and freshening up the engine/t'case/trans a bit prior to install. The real challenge is going to be in finding a body that isn't crap or fiberglass, but this is a fun project so there's no real hurry.

mcgee10 Great pictures Michigan. I have had my new and first jeep ever 1 week today. I just got started with adding some thing I need, I see I have a long ways to go. Next week the windows are getting tinted and as soon as my Walker/Evens shocks come I'll get them on.

You guys have some cool jeeps. I hope mine is cool someday to.
