LAXADAISICAL616 Soft top all the way. The heaters are so good you never notice the cold in the winter, and if you make sure you have a metal header that latches to the top of the windshield, its dead quiet. Never desired the hard top

bjreynolds05 I'm thinking about buying a hard top for the winter. One thing that annoys me on my softtop is that I have a small leak above the center of the windshield: It allows water in and channels it to the front two doors and drips down (only minimal, but annoying at that).

MCoppage I have both. For me it's a seasonal thing. Spring, summer and fall - softtop Winter - hardtop. I only need one friend to help me remove the top on my 4 door JK.

For security, I have a Tuffy lock box.

Also additional con to the softtop might be in the winter I hear the windows could crack if your not careful and try to bend them when frozen.

GroundHawg Here's my insight on both...

HARD TOPS- PRO: holds heat good, easy to keep clean, rear defrost/wiper, actually makes the Jeep worth locking, no worries of holes or tears from stones or trees.

CONS: expensive, storage sucks, need more than 1 friend to take it off/put it back

SOFTIES- PROS: quick and easy removal after practice, you can take it with you folded down in case rain appears, authentic Jeep look and experience.

CONS: little colder but nothing the heater can't handle, pointless to lock the Jeep, noisy at high speeds, harder to clean

In a nutshell...soft tops are convenient and easy, but you sacrifice security and comfort. Hard tops are nice, but difficult to deal with for storage and removal/replacement.

I own a softie with no desire for a hard top. I love it. It's folded down in 5 minutes, quite warm with the heater on, and the wind noise is drowned out by my tire noise and yelling when I hit pot holes. I dig it

Hard or Soft top?

I have a soft top of my 07 Wrangler Unlimited X. I love my soft top (although I've only had it for six weeks and haven't had the chance to take it down yet), but I'm wondering what the Pros and Cons are for both hard and soft tops. Any input would be much appreciated.
