|tjp yj||I am not sure what year you have and engine, but mine is a 93 auto with the 4.0L. Based on mine with the TF999(32RH) trans, the transfer case is 231j with 23 spline and long shaft. The # of splines and length of the input shaft vary - so you can't just grab a TC and assume it will match|

You should be able to take the input gear out of yours and install it in the NP231j.
AMC didn't have any t-cases of their own that I know of. If its a 231, its a New Process t-case. It might be a "c" style but I kinda doubt it. Since that has the front driveshaft coming out of the passenger side. If its old enough it might have a NP207 in it.

|T Fish||Ok thanks, I have a buddy with a 231j I think I can get to try it. If I have to maybe I can frankenstien the 2 cases together to make 1.|

|Nubby55||I think you will need a 231j, but the input spline has to be the same as yours.|

Tranfer case issue
My transfer case is shot, it is a 231 AMC. can i replace it with any 231 case? The transmission is a A904 automatic which seems to be pretty rare at this time.
