sprung a brake leak on my way home.

Hey guys, I just got off work the other day and was coming into town at 35mph and had to stop moderately quick because of a person who decided to turn at the last minute. anywho my brakes went to the floor but luckily there was still enough fluid, and small enough leak that I was able to stop. The leak is in the metal line that goes into the driver's side rear drum. My question is, do I only need to replace the section from the drum to the little metal box that is mounted to the top of the rear axle? My other question is, what is this box? It seems to have multiple lines going into it. The box is only about 1.5"x1.5". Sorry if this is a no brainer but I rarely do brake line work because I'm horrible at it but I think I should be able to tackle this small section. Finally Is our lines' size 3/16 and are the threads standard or U.S.? thank you!
