SylvanSahara i have the 730N and i am loving it, you need to get the Connectivity Group, and Uconnect(part of radio/nav head unit)

Mr.Dave a little late, but i wouldnt go with the nav....it you want the features of a good nav system, go with a garmin or something alike. updates are waaaay too expensifve for a vehicle that warrants break ins. what i have it the REN version of the my ggig, no nav, but has the hard drive, then i keep my garmin in the console. but geography is my thing so im never lost in the first place

Macman1138 Well depending how often you want to use the GPS. Remember the NAV unit just isn't a GPS, but a AM FM and SAT radio that has a 30GB hard drive for music.
You might wish you had gotten the NAV unit when you have put up the GPS and taken it down a bout a hundred times.
I had a window busted out on my Liberty and my Patriot because of people saw the little suction cup mark on the windshield where I had put the GPS.
So even though I am having my NAV unit replaced by the dealer, it has a big, bright screen and all the features mentioned above.
It's worth the money to me after all I have been through with the break ins.

Macman1138 Well my iPhone is too small for my old tired eyes and like someone else said, I wouldn't be 100% happy unless I had a fully loaded Rubicon.
I went to Reedman Toll today and they wouldn't even look at the GPS/radio unit, saying that they only do oil changes and such on the weekends and want me to come back during the week.
Well, I need the money to pay for the COD Black Ops birthday present to myself and can't afford to miss work.
I called two other Jeep dealerships and same story.
I called Dick Greenfield in New Jersey and they took a look at, said what I told me what I had told that bunch in Baltimore—a bad GPS unit, a short—and they ordered another and they will replace it for free.
It worked well the first week.

mjjj Thanks everyone for the replies I decided to order without the touchscreen didn't feel that is was worth 1800 bucks I'd rather just get a garmin or something but got every option except color matching top and nav so now I'm so excited to get it in! Thanks again, Joshua

The problem seemed to be with the clock plate in the steering wheel. No rebooting since yesterday. Otherwise I am very happy with the fully loaded Black Ops Rubicon. Mark S.

I have one in my new Black Ops Rubicon and it started rebooting Monday after less than a week of service.
I'm at the dealership now getting it fixed. They say It's software, but no word yet. The volume controls quit on the way here and now the techs have the dash torn open.
I love it, but a defective unit is just my luck.
I bought the Rubicon for my 55th birthday.

FalconRods Touch screen in mine has worked fine to date. Have had issues with CD player hanging up a few times swapping between music using home burnt CDs. Toggles between media fine though in that "hung-up CD mode". When I stop somewhere - turn Jeep off and then recrank, issue clears.

Not sure what that tells you other than my experiences.

Jma20a i say to go with a portable unit that uses a suction cup mount. with most of the portable units you can plug it into your computer and load addresses, and update the local area highways and junctions, my old unit would tell you what lane to be in and what toll booth line is moving fastest.

and the thing about the touch screens is that if it gets wet or covered in mud it might kill the unit

RogerW I bought my Ford Edge with the built-in navigation, then found out the update to the maps is $225! I bought a Garmin for less than the update and it does more than the built-in system does. When I order my Wrangler, I'm not getting the touch screen, but plan on finding a place to mount the Garmin.

4 Jeep Family I think the hand-held GPS's are better than OEM. Easier to update on the computer.

Touch screen. Is it worth it?

Hey all I plan on ordering my JKU Sahara soon and was wondering is the touch screen worth it? Would it be better just to buy my own gps or is the touchscreen good and worth the money? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Joshua
