jvass You need to use a teflon based spray lubricant or a graphite based lub for the lock. Spray the lub inside the keyway and or on your key and to the back side. Don't be shy, use the stuff, It'll losen. Road salt (thanks to ILL. DOT) does mine in about twice a year.

rugged ridge black aluminum locking gas cover

Guys, just need to know if one of you have this gas cover and if you had to replace the lock on it. On mine, the lock got so stiff to turn that the key bended. I had to pry it open with a screwdriver, then remove the lock and to the trash it went. I tried WD40 on it before the key bended, anyway the lock is dead now.

I went to Home Depot and got a mailbox lock, took the smallest one in terms of depth. However, the lock does not turn all the way to the lock position. The metal piece that locks the door is too long. I could cut it but I prefer buying one that fits without making any custom made adjustments. Does anyone knows what kind of lock fits there?
