I just finished pulling the instrument cluster and replacing one bulb. It's not hard but I'll try to explain if I can remember.
1. Remove two screws on the side plastic piece and then there are two clips that hold it on
2. Remove two screws on the front piece of plastic under the steering wheel. and remove that piece
3. Remove two screws at the bottom of the cluster
4. Remove the long piece of plastic that runs the whole length of the dash along the windshield - it is just snapped in place with about three snaps
5 Remove three more screws along the top of the cluster that were hidden by that long piece you just removed
6 Look for a few more screws holding the cluster in but I think I remember all of them.
7 Now pull the cluster forward and unplug 2 sets of wires that are plugged into the cluster and your done. Replace in reverse order.

Got my HVAC done last night, and the cluster tonight. It turned out great. Thanks for all the help in this thread.

|Neil F.||I changed mine and now rust gears are moving. Do check for the HVAC and switches. There is the HVAC face plate illumination and there are two bulbs for the switches. One is for the face/text of the switch and the other is for switches that have the ON indication (defrost, OD OFF.....) Now that I think of it the ON indication is the 3mm, the switch is the 4mm I don't remember what the panel is.|

Thank you! I was thinking that was it, but I've looked at so many numbers in this thread, I was confused.
From what I could tell, I don't see many people doing the toggle switches, but I want to get them all changed if I can. I could be mistaken though.

The on indicator is 3mm

|Neil F.||It's somewhere in the thread so i would check BUT if I remeber correctly the switches are a neo 3 and the hvac is a neo 4|

Those cool white look good. That's definitely what I'm going with.
Is the toggle switches for the defrost and rear wiper a 4mm just like the rest of the HVAC? Or is it 3mm?

When youi pop out the switches you will see the bulb in the top or bottom (I forget)
Yes with white bulbs the needles of course will be orange

So I think I'm about ready to tackle this project. I watched a video of how to take everything apart, and I think I can do it (hopefully). I'm going to order the whites ones for everything so from my reading 107 pages, I definitely should get the HP bulbs for the HVAC and rear wiper/defrost toggles, correct?
Now, where are the bulbs for the wiper and defrost toggle switches? The video didn't show those being installed.
And the orange needles will show up fine with all white LED's?

|GeorgiaTJ06||How did you go about painting them blue?|
|05-30-2014 09:01 AM|
I think it's detail paint for model cars. I went to my local crafts store and just picked out a small jar of light blue and applied it with a small paintbrush. It was pretty easy and turned out great
The color is called "Gl. Blue"

Put my blue LEDs in today. Saw some pictures before, and it didn't look like the blue color showed through the orange needles, so I painted the needles blue. They show up great.

I used Dupli Color spray (any auto parts store) for my body color (Intense Blue)

Neil that looks great.
I hat ti modify mine a little. My cluster has that yellow arrow indicating to shift gear so i had to drill a hole.

|Neil F.||I did similar. I had it as brushed stainless for a long time then painted it body color. Bit cheaper on ebay where I bought mine. Jeep Wrangler 97 06 Brushed Stainless Gauge Cluster Speedo Dash Bezel Cover Trim | eBay|
