Olympic Maxi Light Bar wire routing - Help!

I am looking for guidance on how to route the wires through the bar. I have them threaded through the top bar and when I went to feed them through the side bar, I am not sure how to run them past the locking plate and screw (the one that loosens to allow the bar to rotate). How should the wires go past this so that they will not get caught and crimped/cut when the bar rotates or when the screw is loosened or tightened? I tried a running some Dorman Conduct-Tite 3/8" split seam wire conduit past this but it will not fit (too big on one side and the cotter pin on the screw on the other side can't rotate past the wire conduit). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
