bink98xcab thats the low dollar 97' price around here. i had $4500 in my when i bought it this year 97' sport and felt i did great and from what i been told from everyone around here and thats the best deal they have heard. id say if it has no major flaws you better hurry and snatch it up. mine also had 136k on it

danieldlg_13 Make sure that it is indeed a Sport with I6. I went to check out this Jeep with a friend who didn't know anything about cars, let alone a Wrangler. The title of the post on Crai... I won't mention the site, anyway, it said "Sport Wrangler I6 Unlimited with 89K miles for $6000!" I thought to myself, too good to be true. Sure enough, it wasn't an Unlimited, it was a 4cyl and it had over 100K miles on it. Plus the soft top was ripped, the enterior was gutted and missing a back seat... well, too many things to list. Just make sure you go through it thoroughly or bring a mechanic.

VegasJeeper2002 If you are in a state that requires a smog test have him get it done before you buy it. that could be a nightmare if it cant pass...

fourstarkf I've been loking in Texas for about 3 months and that Jeep should be going for 10-12K. Someone said above that unless you see it dripping and falling apart before your eyes...BUY IT.

EastHamptonJeep I bought a 03 X within the last month for 8k. So ya... just a doubling up on getting it checked. You could buy it for 5k, drive to a dealership and use it as a trade in for about 9k.

06GoldenEagle 5k sounds like too good of a deal. Has to be a reason. Do a carfax also if u want piece of mind. if you can get the vin, plug it in on and it will give you every option it has along with the axles and gearing

tomkaren Our 03 Sport with 85k was $13k 3 months agoi. Get it checked out

Shelby427 Ditto, if it passes a mechanical inspection, and as stated if he won't let you do this then run, that's a heck of a deal.

Heckuva deal. Even if you gotta replace 3-4K worth of stuff, it's still a bargain.
Agreed! Unless he wants you to pay to have it shipped, and you can pick it up at the port... If you can't put your hands on it and see the title run like the wind...

MJCT208 Thanks for the quick replys! It sounds like I should get a mechanic to check out the jeep. Other then that If he says it's a go I think I'm going to jump on it. I haven't found a 2000 for close to 5 grand... But this guy has an 03 and could use an extra 5 grand. I hope
Everything works out. Thanks everyone!

jeepers29 Welcome to the forum! I would have a mechanic check it out. Many banks and credit unions can reccomend a moble mechanic to look at used cars.

Scoob If you are going to to put bigger tires, lift and wheel it offroad. Make sure it has a Dana44 for a rear axle and not the dana 35. Which is prone to braking offroad. If you are going to keep it on the streets it doesn't matter which axle is in it. That's a decent price though.

95YamJam That sound like a really good deal, almost too good.

2003 jeep wrangler sport good deal?

Hello jeep family!
I have been wanting a jeep for a good 3 years now, and I think I have finially found one.
Its a 2003 wrangler black sport soft top 131,000 miles.
He is the original owner, no accidents, no aftermarket parts, stock like the way it rolled out of the dealership. He Wants $5,000 for the jeep.. Is this a good deal?
Or should I be Worried that something is wrong with the jeep. I have not gotten a chance to see the jeep yet, but I wanted to see what you guys thought about it..

thanks so much
