As much as I shouldn't tell you this, Yes, you can. You will need to get the correct weld in bung from either an exhaust shop, or what I use is what is called a "spark plug Non-fouler" when I have to place an sensor in stream. A regular "nut " will not work. I think you will notice a rather large decrease in low end power with the cat gone. Just remember, every parameter of the engine operating system is designed for that cat to be there. Good luck, and I waish you would change your mind.......But thats why we live in USA!!!!

Put it back in there. There WILL be problems. The O2 Sensor is used by the computer to constantly monitor the mixture to produce a "stoich" (14.7) Mixture of fuel and air. By removing/disabling the sensor it will make the computer think it's running LEAN and lengthen the pulsewith AND turndown time on the injector (Amount in Miliseconds that the injector is open) to try and richen the mixture. Also remember when the MIL light is on, the engine is in a different operating parameter. Sure an eliminator will "fool" the computer and MAY turn off the light, But it still will not be able to "monitor" and adjust the air/fuel mixture correctly for altitude/temp/load changes.(remember carbs??) It will always be full rich...and remember....gas isnt getting any cheaper these days!!!!!!

no ce light on mine
emissions laws are a scam. construction equipment (which is smog exempt) pollutes MUCH more than my 4 banger yj, but lobbyists line politiicans pockets so they dont have to worry about it. im not losing any sleep over it. im no enviromental rapist or greenie but damn, theres bigger fish to fry than a few cats going missing......

I've noticed no difference in power or m.p.g. but i DONT like the ce light being on. When I have it apart to install my lift I'll do a high flow cat, but Ive got to let a little time go by so i dont feel like Im redoin something I never should have done to begin with.
As far as sellin it NO WAY JOSE I AM HOOKED JEEPS KICK BUTT (i do realize if I do sell it Ill have to fix it or risk being thrown into federal prison for life for violating federal emmissions laws)

I am definately not a greenie tree hugger. If I were I wouldn't be driving a 14mpg Jeep. I'd have some hybrid econo box POS. Hell, my last vehicle was a 2004 F250 4x4 crew cab with the V-10. I got about 7mpg with that one.
However, I am of the opinion that the pollution control devices installed by the mfg and required by the feds should be in good working order. End of arguement.
I don't care what he does or doesn't do and as long as he doesn't have to get tested or sell it to someone that does no one will ever be the wiser.

I removed it cause it was broken inside and did not want to go get one as I am cheap and lazy and I think I'm smarter than I really am LOL.Thanks for the link I will buy one of those before I spend $ on a new cat.

I have installed flowmasters on several vehicles, but always left the catholic converter alone. Sorry I can't help you with that one.

Please help me be right
I cut out the cat on my 1997 TJ 4.0 and now i need to figure out how to jumper the 4 wire sho2 sensor (rear) to eliminate the check engine light and assure there will be no power,fuel/air ratio problems. the "right "part is i told my better half NO PROBLEM. Well, i have yet to find the correct solution to allow me to be right. Thanks in advance.
