Your engine code on the tag in the jeep will be the last three letters/numbers of the second row down. They made both the 2.4 and 2.5 between those dates.

|sjkorenek||I like that idea Gary.. I have the serial # off the new motor, and of course my VIN. But wouldn't know where to cross reference. The tag on the rebuilt also says 87-95 Jeep. To me that covers a lot of ground. If you or anyone can give me any insight. Steven 979-561-8343|

|sjkorenek||How many 2.5 4 cylinders were made in the 89 time frame? Asked the rebuilder if a manual or automatic would matter, they said no. Is there such a thing as different flywheels?? But yes, the orginal flywheel. Gaps in the teeth at 180 degrees. I've noticed the six cylinders have three gaps.|

What flywheel are you using, the original?
You might have got the wrong motor...

Flywheel vs. Crank Position Sensor...Help!!
Intalled a rebuilt 2.5 in my 89 Wrangler. The gaps in the teeth on the flywheel do not correspond to 90 degrees off of TDC from the Crank Position Sensor. Not suprising that the new motor runs like hell. The flywheel will only go on one way,,,so I guess I'm just screwed. Has anyone out there ever heard of such a thing. The timing isn't adjustable so the CKP has to jive with the gaps in the teeth. Anyone who can help !!!???
