|Plowboy1970||Whine in first gear is normal. I test drove 4 autos before buying one and they all did it. The whine was my first post. It is the planetary gears you hear. Before coming to a complete stop, the trans kicks down to first gear.|

Does it do it in reverse too?
Low/reverse is the same clutch pack. And the trans drops to low gear when coming to a stop.
Could be something like a problem in the clutch pack, bad planetary gear, or so on. In other words, get it back to the dealer, PRONTO!

I have a '99 Tj Sport, Auto transmission. 2 months after my parents bought me the car, the transmission went bad. Since it was still under warranty, the dealership paid to get the tranny rebuilt. When I first got it, and after the rebuild I noticed the transmission had a whining sound to it when accelerating in 1st gear, and stops after it shifts. It doesnt make that noise in any other gears, but does it about 2 seconds before coming to a complete stop. Anyone else with this? I dont know if this is normal or not? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.
