gumby25 Im in the process of doing this right now and ran into this issue. Did you have any issues with it fitting tight at that connection after enlarging the holes?

Magnaflow direct-fit cat heads-up

Just installed a "magnaflow direct-fit" catalytic converter & down-pipe into my '98 TJ 4.0L. (Magnaflow 23227 - MAGNAFLOW Performance Direct Fit Catalytic Converter for 97-99 Jeep® Wrangler TJ with 4.0L Engine - Quadratec)

The holes in the down-pipe-to-header flange (between the oil pan & front driveshaft) were spaced 1/8" (0.125") too wide, and wouldn't fit properly. The flange bolted up after I walked a 7/16ths drill bit around in each hole.

Hopefully the next person who does this install won't spend 3hrs banging around under the truck trying to figure what's not fitting right.
