I actually own military vehicles and have painted alot of them. We buy our paint from Rapco. They have several options that you can go with. Their pictures oin the web site do not do justice. We ordered a mixed case of spray cans and tried most of the Olive Drab colors out. We went with the lusterless olive drab current issue with our M35A2s and did a 3 color camo on our M818 (military trucks).
here is a link Rapco Paint Descriptions & Recommended Uses!!! NEW
no clear coats (unless you want too) we used xylene to cut the paint down when mixing. Quicker flash off time. This paint is extreamly tuff and does not just chip off.
They make a primer that is better and tougher than anything I have ever used. I use it on ALL of my projects.

|sandman1212||The color is Olive Drab, but the "Paint" is not a paint at all, it is called C.A.R.C or chemical agent resistant coating. much thicker and MUCH more carcinogenic.|

Here is place we use for all of our jeep stuff. I have been to this guy's shop and I had to change my pants before leaving. There are so many beautiful military vehicles there and he does them all. We use his paint and our jeep is literally a museum show piece. It is good brushed or sprayed on.
Just trying to help out.

also, before i get pics up...you can buy OD green Paint here. its $30 a gallon as is, shipping is a bit pricey because of Hazardous materials shipping cost.
but you can also get rattle cans for $6.50 each and test it out on some other parts before making the jump to painting the WHOLE jeep.
Army Jeep Parts Inc. Home page.
Click on GCI Paint at the top of that site. Scroll all the way DOWN. its AJPWWII

|Xeno||Thanks for all the input! Now all i need is money! Gas sure is expensive these days...|

you would mix in a eggshell seal coat into the paint...when they spray the OD green...the "clear" coat is already in it. except it wont be glossy...it will be more flat.
I had the same Idea but i went with flat black...my paint guy mixed Eggshell sealer into the flat black and came out AWESOME! ill put up a pic tomorrow.

|darkproximity||military vehicles dont have any clear coating on them, hence the non gloss.. they probably use some special high heat flat paint though..|

|OsageJeep||You wouldn't, but it'd be easy to repaint..|

|Xeno||Ok... But if you left the clear coat off how would you prevent it from chipping and such?|

|mrhog||the color is called olive drab. You should be able to find it at any good paint shop...|

Wishing to paint a non-shiny army green.
I have wanted to paint my jeep army green for... ever? But i do not know how they actually paint army vehicles in such a flat green colour. Example (bigger truck):
I do not want my jeep to look like this :banghead::
