Geoff@Bestop Ahhh. I missed the part about your hard top being off already! So all you need to do is unscrew the four bow connection points, where the bows connect to the sports bar, and then lift the whole top off. It's a bit awkward, so maybe two people.

It's a Torx screw, so you need a torx driver. You can buy quick release knuckles, and avoid the torx, but it's not that big a deal. You'll need torx drivers, as a Jeep owner.

Putting it back on is just as simple.

And, yer, it's depressing for you to be thinking about next winter. The snow has not yet melted here on our trails.

Geoff@Bestop Yes. In fact, you're supposed to remove it, or you can risk getting it all rubbed and worn.

You need to loosen the bolts that hold your hard top on, and lift it up a bit. Then, remove the torx bolts that connect the 4 bars/bows of the soft top to the roll bars. You should be able to slide the whole top right out the back of the Jeep.

That's less complicated than it sounds. The biggest problem will be lifting the hard top: it's not all that heavy, but you need two healthy people.

And a suggestion, if I may: why not take the hard top off completely, and run around with just the soft top for a while this summer? That's why you bought a Jeep!

dual tops

Have had my Sahara Unllimited for 3 months now and love it.It is my first experience with the dual top format We have no problem removing the Freedom hardtop and storing it for the warm weather. But we would like to know if there a way to completely remove the soft top and store it while the hard top is in use. The normal storage place for the soft top (at the top of the tailgate) makes it difficult to utilise the the rear window or tailgate to load anything of size. If the softtop is meant to be removed and stored we would like to know how. We do not wish to disassemble the vehicle to over come a minor inconvenience
