jeepliker Well my radiator was all rusted and leaking plus oil was shooting up to the oil cap and im guessing thats where it was leaking plus the oil dip stick meaning one of the pistons or all the pistons were loose?

Garyk Out the door price includes what? If they pull it and install it plus, head work, lifters and rockers, push rods, pistons and rings, rod and main bearings, cam shaft and bearings, turn the crank, new seals and gaskets, timing chain and sprockets, then its a pretty good deal....make sure you know what you are getting before committing.

H2_recoveryteam I just did my 2.5 for 1700 thats pulled, complete rebuild and install with warrentee. But my great price was a pain in the A$&. Hence the 5 visits i had to get it right. Make sure u get good quality work done. Do it right the first time. You get what u pay for. Hope this helps.

ClayL If they are rebuilding the motor and re-installing it then that's a good price! Going to rebuild mine here soon hopefully

It might be the rear main seal, and I know a forum member on here, tang, just had his 6 cyl. rebuilt and it was like 3k

444 If you're not able to do the work yourself, having an engine rebuilt and installed will cost more than it's worth. Parts and machine work alone will cost you in the $1500-2000 range that's with you assembling the engine and installing it yourself. So add labor on top of that if you farm it out.

Is the engine leaking or is the transmission leaking? Both are fixable without doing a total rebuild.

A rebuild on my YJ HELP!

So my mechanic came to look at my car today since im not a expert at fixing cars, and he suggested that i might as well do a rebuild since my cars leaking from this seal by the transmission and the motor is getting old. And my question to you guys is, How much does a rebuild costs or have cost anybody here that has done a rebuild on the 4cyl yj motor? Thanks.
