|jk'n||Mine uses 1 quart every 2,000 miles. Needless to say, I check it at least every thousand.|

|daggo66||You had a knocking sound and found out you were 3 quarts low so you went 6 months without checking it again?|

|demarpaint||I'd suggest checking the oil each time you gas up, especially in a vehicle that uses oil. Being down 3 qts of oil is not good and can easily damage an engine. This is a known issue with 3.8L engines assembled in Mexico. As mentioned ^^ its well documented.|

There's a number of threads on this, as it is indeed a well known problem.
I don't know that they've come to any kind of resolution or universal "fix," but you might want to check out some of these threads to see if they're helpful to you at all.
(1) My Jeeps using oil.... Not an oil debate
(2) Losing OIL ?
(3) Excessive oil use!!
(4) Jeep Wrangler jk excessive oil consumption
There are others, but I figure that's a good start.

Oil Consumption for a 2008 4D Jeep Wrangler
Hey Guys. I own a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with 47000 miles on it. At about 40000 miles I started hearing a "Knocking" in my front end of my car. I took it to the dealership and got a run around on it as to what the problem was and left the dealership without it resolved. At that time I was in the middle of a oil change which I do at 6000 miles to maintain warrenty. I checked my oil (which my dealership apparently did not do) and it was 3 quarts low. So i placed the oil in it and the "knocking" resolved. It has now been 6 months since that problem and it is back again. I have checked the oil and it is low again. I am wondering if you guys have any ideas or advice as to why my jeep is using up this amount of oil. I am pretty unhappy with it and have emailed Jeep and got the run around and I know I will get the same from my dealership. Thank.
