[Pulled the Sport up next to my 2003 SE that had a blown engine. I am giving that one to my best friend soon. But I am cannibalizing it first. He gets a free TJ in need of an engine and with all my beat parts.] Removed, cleaned, swapped and reinstalled a lot of stuff, intending to only do a little bit of work. I was sadly wrong. Swapped padded roll bar covers Swapped sound bar pods (Yes, I then had to swap the speakers I had just installed so that the new ones were in the "new" pods.) I had to remove all the seat belts and remove the soft top hoops to do this. I remember once reading on another forum that this is a quick and easy thing to do because of the zippers. The person who wrote this was an idiot or a liar or both. In the process I also swapped the rear seat belts (including the short halves on the floor). You know, you start to get into this, you have the day off, and the weather is really fine, you have tuneage and beverages, and it gets out of hand really damned fast... Seats? Why not seats? The ones in the dead jeep are much nicer and are not so bent up. You actually face forward in those seats. I want them, too. Swapped all seats. Swapped soft tops and frames. Swapped all dashboard plastics except for gauge cluster and airbag cover. So my wife and I had to remove and clean all these parts from two TJs, then replace it all after swapping them. Like a complete idiot I got into what I was doing, like a Jeep Zone sort of thing, and forgot to fish out my power tools and air tools. I removed all those high-torque regular and Torx head bolts from the seats, seat belts, etc. with my trusty 3/8" drive hand ratchet. I am so stupid sometimes. This took us about 11 hours with all the cleaning. Holy crap... The result is a 2003 Sport with most of the engine and engine systems in great shape, with much nicer roll bar padding (actually black and no tears) new speakers and head unit. I still need to cannibalized the dead SE by swapping the front fenders, hood and tailgate as well as my sweet AtoZ Fab rocker panels. After that is done my buddy can have the thing for free. He already has the motor sitting in his garage. And he can replace all the worn out stuff if he wants. I just do not want to give away a jeep (in great shape other than the blown block) while I keep the great running one that is beat to hell. Finally, the TJ we were swapping the stuff into had been herculined by the PO. He did a terrible job. Looks like he was high as a kite and giggling as he rolled it all over. If any rubber plugs in the tub were not flat out missing, he Herculined right over them. I pulled what were left and swapped in the complete set from the dead TJ. I had already taken my AtoZ bumpers and swapped the grilles. This replacement TJ needs a lot of suspension work. I have already modified and installed some front JK Rubicon (red, gas charged) shocks and replaced the steering damper. I have to modify and install the rear ones soon. But the dang upper shock bolts are stuck. Now I have more tools, so I will probably just break them off and drill them out. I am sick of messing with them. This is going to end up being a really nice TJ when I am finished. If I ever finish... I hope that if this post was too long and difficult for anyone that they were smart enough to skip over it... ;-)
maybe you should have just swapped engines lol

I went from the 3.73's to the 4.88's so it was HUGE to me..as far as needing to "downshift" or go to "fourth" nah that doesn't happen any more....she doesn't have the top end she used to...but IDK how fast it would really go...2100RPM is about 55mph.

I couldn't agree more. The 4.88's make a world of difference while offroad compared to the stock 3.07's that I had

mine helped with uphill acceleration. I mean I have a 4 cyl, so as long as I'm rocking and rolling I can go uphill without down shifting, if I start on a hill, I can still get to 5th but takes a few minutes
