IcarusLSC Looks good crikey.
I went with the Drake inserts, they look good and are pretty easy to put on too.

Jaybirdd I think its still a nice touch to have with or without a winch. Luckily, I did the mod before I mounted a winch.

GoldenEagle Those all look good, just trying to figure out if its worth it when you have a big fat winch in front of it. hahaha

Zarni Very nice! I'm planning to paint my grill once it warms up - too many rock chips! If I go to the trouble of taking it off I'm definitely adding this .. nice look.

Jaybirdd A few pics of the final product...

Jaybirdd I know this is an old thread but I'd rather post here than clog up the forum with another grill insert one. Basically, I had already removed my grill to paint it with Rustolium bedliner so I figured this would be the perfect time to DIY myself a mesh insert. Got some gutter guard from Lowes and some zip-ties and cloth picture hangers from the dollar store. The mesh was 6 in wide, perfectly covering 2 slots in the grill. (Sucks there isnt an even number but hey the 7 slots might as well be the Jeep logo) So I cut some rectangles and zip-tied them together. Glued the picture hangers to the inside of the grill with some gorilla glue, providing me with additional anchor points for more zip-ties. I was going to paint the mesh white and it would look sweet with my white Jeep and black grill but I worried about the paint chipping and revealing the black plastic underneath. I don't ever want to have to take the grill off again... such a PITA.

Mr_RPM I just zip ties a screen right over the front, i painted the screen black first. it has a utilitarian look but can barley be seen from a distance.

if you look closely here you can see it

my buddy has chrome inserts so we just took them out, zip tied screen to them, painted them black and slid them back in.

GoldenSahara00 Pretty sure I was super smart when I did this...

PO had a mesh cover SCREWED into my grill ( i still hate that A hole...)

So I took the screw out. bent the mesh in half. fed it behind the grill. unbent it. Put bolts through from the back, out the screw holes, added nuts, then nut caps. painted the mesh black eventually and thats what I run today. one of the first mods I did to my jeep before I ever found WF...

looks good though, gota love zip ties!

hey.. those 8 pop in clips can be hard to pry out, and after you just yank the other tension clips out there's those pesky lights to disconnect, you actually have to twist em a full quarter turn to disengage em, and the grill piece, it must weigh like, at least 30 ounces or so... that's some work you're talking about there...

ESP Yep. Can't tell you how many times I took off my front grill when cutting up my plastic bumper filler to mount a light bar (sold now).

Huh? It's a very easy mod.

Edit... I guess not.

The Jk is a lot easier.

yeah I cut my fingers atleast 3 times. Once you get down to the last two slots its a real big pain. I started from the middle and worked outward but would probably start from one side next time

I really like how the jk's can easily take off their grill and do their own DIY grill insert. The tj is way harder to take off so I tackled it without uninstalling the grill. I used the stainless steel gutter covers and cut them out each individually.

Here are some pics. The middle slot has an opening for the hood release.

I zip tied the crap out of the bottom grill slots in the middle and then just hid the zipties with the license plate. The whole thing was very tedious and now my wrists have a case of arthiritis.
