1995 mustang gt...

first off ill introduce myself by saying im new to the mustang world, i had always wanted an original mustang and still hope to get one some day, but for now i have a 1995 5.0 with the t5 manual tranny. it has 79,000 miles and i got it on a trade for my 2003 gsxr750 that was clean as hell (trust me i never wanted to get rid of my bike but the parents made me after i got hit by a car on another motorcycle i had). i have always been big in jeeps and currently have a 1999 wrangler lifted 6 inches on 36s that i dd and the mustang is my weekend cruiser and fun toy.

the other day i was in a little bit of a hurry when i went to leave a buddies house and while in reverse gave it a little too much gas then what i intended to the car started to shake and studder then popped out of reverse. i got it home, noticing that on the way home the tranny wouldnt go into 1st gear with the clutch in unless the car was at a complete stop, when i went to back it into my spot in the driveway i put it in reverse and started to let the clutch out and in started to clunk and grind and wouldnt move, i quickly put the clutch in and all the noise stopped. now anytime i try to go in reverse it makes really bad clunking noises.

I am wondering what is going to need to be done to fix this, i read that the T5 doesnt have syncros for reverse so im wondering if a rebuild kit with syncros will even help at all or if i am going to have to buy a new/rebuilt tranny all together. i am relativley mechanicly inclined so tearing the tranny out and rebuilding wont be too far out of my leagur, i just want to know what parts i am going to need to buy and where to get them to get my toy back on the road. thanks
