yelir49 Excellent thought on grounding the lights manually one at a time. I know my experience with trailer lights, the ground always ends up being the culprit. Hadn't thought about the same thing applying to the jeep lights since they are attached to the frame. They are working right now so I believe you have hit the problem on the head. Next time they go out I'll ground each light to test the theory. Thanks to all for the advice

For Yelir49 - With Ohm-meter

BIZARRE!!!!! I wired Tow-pkge and trailer last week. The Running-lights are 12v(on-off). The Signals-lights activated by 8v-12v impulses. The Brake is the same when applied. The trailer will get ground from the plug. Okay, still with me????
Therefore since the brakes-lights on the trailer work, the Pedal-Switch is working fine. Therefore 12v is on/off at rear of vehicle. Remove lens cover and ground one tail-light yourself. Have someone apply brake. That will give you answer as far as ground is concerned. Get back at me and I'll look further into possibilities if you can't solve it.

White93ARB Ahhh the old Fonzerelli only works on the square lights. Figures.

jeeperx2 you can only use that method on a YJ !!!

White93ARB I've got the Fonzi tail light. The passenger side blinker/brake light will go out, and all I have to do is give the whole light assembly a good knock. Eyyyyyy.

I was told I need to go in and fix a ground. I will when I get the time.

parrot head The only advice I can offer is that everytime I've had an electrical/lighting problem that seemed to defy logic, it has always turned out to be a ground that was bad. When you hook up your trailer the brake lights probably find another path to ground. I hope this helps, I hate electrical problems

Brake lights

This one is hard to believe but its happening and its driving me mad. My brake light quit working. I had tail lights, and turn signals (all bulbs and fuses OK). I figured it must be the brake light switch on the brake pedal so I changed it out. The brake lights worked long enough for me to feel good about solving the problem. Checked them serveral times and told myself good job. That was yesterday. Today no brake lights. Still l have turn signals and tail lights but no brake lights (all bulbs and fuses OK). Now here is the strange part. I decided to hook up my boat trailer just to see what would happen. I've got brake lights on my trailer!!!!!!! None on the Jeep!!!!!!!! I thought I was narrowing down the possibilities but now I'm confused. Anybody had anything like this happen to them????
