4Jeepn Welcome. You can change to 4.88's, it will help, but is not a cure all. Though you might want to consider upgrading the rear dana 35 to a stronger axle before you spend money on it. Ford 8.8 make a nice swap. Gear swaps will vary in cost but figure 1000-1500 depending on your location. junkyard 8.8 200 bucks and another few hundred in parts to make it fit on the YJ.

91 Wrangler gear ratio

Hey all. I am new to this site and posting my 1st thread. I have a 91 wrangler and I have 31x10.5x15 BF Goodrich mud terrains on it now and a 2.5L engine. My tires are too much for my engine when going into the wind. I slow down to 50 mph in 5th gear. Any ideas on what I can do? Thinking about changing the front and rear gear ratios. Any ideas? Thanks
