Installing Subwoofers in Door or Kick Panels?

Has anyone installed small, shallow-mount subwoofers in either their door or kick panels? Or even in the side panels between the rear and front seats?

I have a 2 door X with mechanical windows if that helps, and I would either make some sort of modified box where the kick panels are, or open up the door panels and install them towards the bottom center where the diamond embossed looking plastic trim is.

I am considering these subwoofers most likely for the door panels:

TS-SW841D - 8" Shallow-Mount Subwoofer with 500 Watts Max. Power | Pioneer Electronics USA

The kick panels would require a smaller diameter sub and I'm leaning towards the door panel idea.

Thanks for the help,
