Rbonnifield I finally got the pitman arm off today. I adjusted the pitman arm so that it faced the rear of the vehicle when the wheels were centered. Put the pitman arm back on and the problem was fixed. Thank you guys for the help and suggestions.

91badass Well I had the same problem years ago and that was the fix, its more likley that somebody played with the drag link than the pitman arm, thats not very easy to get off. That being said NUB might be right but its worth a try.

Rbonnifield I'll give the pitman arm adjustment a shot this weekend. The last time I looked at the pitman arm, I noticed that the spline that the pitman inserts into has a keyway on it, can it still be adjusted?

Nubby55 If you do that it will be rigrt back where you started. You will need to take the pitman arm off the gear box with the front tire looking straight forward and centered then turn steering wheel one way, then all the way back the other, divide x 2 find middle, and put the pittman arm back on gear box.

91badass dissconnect the draglink from the pittman arm, turn the wheel all the way to the right or left, then go the opposite way and count the turns, then cut that in half and turn the wheel that amount, should be center, then hook up the draglink.

Nubby55 Sounds like your Pittman arm is on the wrong spline.

Steering Issue

I just started working on my first jeep. Trying to get trustworthy of it and going through all the nooks and crannies before I take it out. There is one issue I would like to fix. When I turn the steering wheel to the right, I can go about three revolutions on the steering wheel. When I turn the steering wheel to the left I can make about 1.5 revolutions. I checked the tie rods and they are equally spaced. The wheels are centered when the steering wheel is centered. Is there another adjustment or something else I need to look at to fix this problem?
