I think a 3" lift is perfect for 35s on a JK. Got 35s on my two door JK and it is plenty. Now I has the bushwhacker flat fenders put on and it looks way taller than it is.
Saw a guy at a gas station not long ago and he thought I had a 6" lift. He had a 6" on his. But the fender flares did it. With proper wheel backspace I think 3" is plenty.

yeah if you are gonna sink some money into that front axle to handle those 37's sure but otherwise no.

If you try you can run 35's stock. Not much of a lift is needed for 35's.

So I am going to add bumpers most likely - definitely on the rear for the tire carrier.
And possibly a winch.
So if I am getting a 3" lift, sounds like it won't be a true 3" after all said and done.
For those with 35's would you recommend a 3" or 4" lift?

I got a 2012 Sahara and did a 3'' procomp spacer lift I had some 33 toyos from my 2008 Sahara had them on for about a month and just switched to 35's.
When I put the 33s on my 2008 they sucked the power out of it and it was all over the road.. with my 2012 I can tell that I have the 35s on it but its still got tons of power and drives smooth...

|Pitbullwrangler||I just got my 2012 last weekend and I took one with 3.21's. What is the biggest tire I can do with that? I wish I had got the 4:10's. I am kicking myself but it is a daily driver and I'm sure the gas mileage is better for now. I to am not new to modding cars but I am new to Wranglers.|

So even with 35's i should throw on some gussets. Since its brand new, seems crazy to start moding the drive train and axles etc.
Sounds like i will stick with 35's, and the 3" BDS lift.
What are axle tubes? Sorry new at the jeep modifying game. I have had other modified vehicles but never a jeep.

|phottomatt||37's are too big, you'll bend that smaller front axel among other problems, good article on another forum about the added weight of the 37's. Going from 33's to 35's is not as bad as going from 35's to 37's. The difference is exponential as you get larger. They may look cool but you will pay for it later on.|

|R U STUCK||I have built and sold alot of the JK's/JKU's. I have '12's already built and ready to go. I have 4" lifts with 35's and 6" lifts with 37's. I have wheeled both of them (Our '11's). Of course with the 6" we had put on some Tom Woods front and rear shafts and steering stabilizers. I did fine with either and didn't snap a shaft. And these were Saharas. I wheeled them on blue trails. The up travel with the 3" and 37's will not work well unless you go to tube fenders for sure.|

No. I dont sell on ebay. Id never want to ship boxes of wheels. Seems like a pain in the butt. I like to have a summer sahara set and a winter rubi set for myself. Bought another rubi set recently from craigslist for a fellow jeeper friend of mine. Never bought from forum folks either.

|kidguam||Im getting my 3" BDS lift installed tomorrow. Going to run the stock 32" for now. Im looking at 35" in the near future. I have the Auto with 4:10.|

35's and no regear will be fine with 4.10's. 37's is pushing it... you will notice the lack of power, your off-road performance will suffer, and you will break that axle if you don't fortify it. Doubt you can do it on a 3" lift without having nagging issues. I did a 4.5" AEV lift with 35's. AEV says that a 3.5" will clear 35's without issues, and 4.5" will clear 37's without issues. Also had to get a new front driveshaft. I stayed away from 37's, too much hassle, but did leave the option for the future by going 4.5".
Unless you want the 37's strictly for looks...

|4Jeepn||I would invest in some axle tube inserts, for 35's and up. The stock axles tend to flex with bigger tires and offroading.|

I had a similar question, although mine is a manual.
I'll be running 35's with a 3" lift. Probably gonna end up going to 4.56's or 4.88's. Leaning toward the 4.88's at the moment.

Just put 35's on my 2011, drives fine to me with 4.10:1 gears. I wish I would have went with 37's... there's always next year.
Make sure you go with a quality lift, proper bump stops, and you will need to trim the rock rails and pinch seem.

i just chatted with my local off-road shop North Shore Off-Road and he mentioned that he knows lots of guys running 35's on the 2007-11 jeeps and they are fine (with no re-gear). He figured the 37's would be fine on the 2012 and 4.10.
Just wondering if anyone has actually done this yet?
