Our Jack Russells take less room, and are more easily loaded in, but the three Labs we have might be a bit bullish as they climb in, yes.

Not sure how hard to work with in the cold, but the metal bar that the bottom of the back window hooks to pulls straight out once the two back corners are loose. Here in the warm, on my 4 door, I can pull the back bottom of the corners out, zip both sides of the back window up, and pull the bar out and lift the bar and the bottom of the window up and set it on the top of the back.
when done loading, pop the bar back in, pop the corners back in, and zip it down. Takes less than 2 minutes.

I have an 07 unlimited and I always take my 2 dogs on rides, the yellow lab is 85lbs and I do not have to undo the rear window. They just jump right in. On longer trips when i use a carrier yes i must undo the rear window.
The way the wheel wells and rollbar are positioned in a tj my dogs never come close to the plastic windows but then again they are really well behaved.
In the summer with no windows always restrain your dogs, you never know when they might want to jump out no matter how well they are trained.

|sgnellett||I have a TJ, but I'm sure the JK top is pretty similar. However, is the Jeep you are looking at a 4 door?|

|sgnellett||Simple answer? No, it'll be a PITA trying to load & unload a large dog thru the back of a soft top wrangler, you'd have to unzip the window every time. And I wouldn't put a large dog in the back of a soft top w/ the windows on, just asking for ruined windows, unless he's really well behaved.|

Soft Top question for JK owners
IM very serioulsly considering buying a JK from my local dealership. My only hangup is with the soft top. I was wondering how easily a larger dog could be loaded up through the back end. I guess I dont know exaclty how the rear hatch operates on the soft tops. The hardtop rear window flips up,and the tailgate swings out. But how does it work with the soft top? Is it easy to load and unload a dog, all months of the year? Is the plastic and canvas hard to work with with cold temps? I guess my question overall is how user friendly is the rear access of the softtops? Thank you for any comments (I understand the rear seats would have to be removed to haul a dog)
