DevilDogDoc Full coverage, 0 deductible with $5000 automatically added for add-ons.....I cant afford not to have the coverage, as poor as it has been since I moved, if something like this were to happen to me with no coverage they may as well take the whole Jeep!! I would be driving around doorless in the rain...

bheiser I have full hard doors and bought full soft doors. Don't get the best top full soft doors. They don't fit right and you can't lock the pins with security bolts

fivestar9968 i didnt read all of the replies in here but i think i have a great idea as i have been thinking about this because of my recent purchase of a yj with hard doors!

go to a local walmart/target/auto parts store and buy two of the master lock coated cables that lock with a key or spin combination. shop around. i almost bought a set at target but then found a pair at advacned auto that were super thick, about a half inch wide! wrap the cable around your door frame and the roll bar and lock both sides, tuck the excess inside the jeep. if they come with good sized cable cutters, that might be a problem but its better than leaving them sitting there with or without the door hinge screw! leave some feedback on this idea. im using them this summer. and lock your doors too.....thats just another deterent although nothing is 100%

dale 3 I wouldn't try to match color because 98% of the time you'll have to readjust the hinges that screws up the paint anyway.

ejxjohnson go to Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market. Its basically a search of all the junk yards in your area or whatever area you choose. if you cant find the doors in your city, try a town or city close by

GoldenSahara00 I run soft too and half doors year round :b

sevenservices I waited and waited and waited for full doors to pop up on craigslist that were under $500. Eventually, I found a set about three hours from me for $200. I went and got them the same day they were listed. I had to spend 6 hours on the road and didn't get home 'till 1am but hell, I had my doors for $200. Only problem, one had a crack in it by the window (that I welded the next day) and the other was missing the glass in the mirror (which I replaced a week or two later...)

Keep looking, something will come up. In my case I have a white jeep with red doors right now. Can't be picky on color if your looking for a deal.

Palmers2000tj Half doors are fine in the winter! I just switch out the soft top for hardtop and have half doors. just have to do some adjusting and no leaks. Took a few times but hey water on floor boards is part of owning a jeep.

Tmstar05 I got a set of blk full steel doors... I sold my hard top for a best top heavy duty soft top but the guy wasn't willing to trade his steel half doors. If you can find some half steel doors we can work out some kind of deal. It rarely gets below 20 were I live plus my heater works like a champ.

armygreen sad to hear about the theft. actually not sad but furious but no point in me ranting, the criminal's not gonna hear it.

insurance - i always have carried liability and comp, because comp only costs a teency bit more, comp covers theft and vandalism. collision i never carry because it doubles or more the cost.

peruse the dogcrap out of craiglist, ebay, etc., because you may find your doors again; i'd set up some search links and add to my favorites and click on 'em twice a day; once you set up quicklinks from your browser then checking them is just a click.

fulldoors - i got quoted at the dealer in lexington ky, $804 per door, then plus hardware (they didn't say how much, and they didn't mention glass, interior panel, etc.), and the doors are unpainted. i estimated minimum $2grand but think with whatever they referred to as "hardware" would likely push it to $2500. this is why i refused to even shop at jeeps with halfdoors - it wasn't worth the cost to get fulls, but you can get aftermarket halfs for cheap. just FYI on fulldoor cost.

GET LOCKS next time. nothing stops a thief for some reason determined to get any itme any where, but what thief is so determined to get your specific doors? none. locks would've stopped this, a thief is more likely to damage the goods trying to remove from something hard to remove from.

get locks, get comp ins. JMO

i don't have locks on mine yet but i only owned it 2wks now, i'm in the process of looking for all the "stuff" i need. my tuffy underseat ccdw box just arrived today and i only really need that for when i go to the post office or into work, infact not really at work - we have cams everywhere, gated parking, 24/7 guards and they are infact everywhere all the time.

Ace48 Haha I agree with the guy talking about how hard the doors are to pull off! I drove around with them on all summer; some a$$hole waits until winter to pull them off for me. Would have been a favor for me in the summer..
12-01-2011 02:03 AM
Ace48 Thanks for the help and condolences!

I have scoured craigslist and other websites and not come back with much, even for half-doors. They didn't just take the doors though. They jacked the whole car. I'm sure for parts for their own jeep bc they took weird things like the soundbar speakers and lightbulb only. They took the radio, ripped out the ignition (just fixed, $750... almost wanted to just by another jeep lol)

To the Chicago guy, I figured as much about the winter... I was parked at Wrightwood and Lincoln across from the 711 by the park on Wrightwood. It happened sometime between 9AM and midnight-ish. Lincoln Park of all places...

dale 3 Any security camera's where the piece of sheit stole them?
11-30-2011 06:57 PM
ratuna I'm in the Chicago area also, where was the Jeep when the doors got jacked? Like what area? I have 2 piece soft doors and I can tell you there is no way you'll survive the winter with a set of them. Snow, sleet and slush would be getting in and driving you crazy.
11-30-2011 06:39 PM
shipjim With half doors you have plastic and zipper windows, no need to lock anything a swiss army knife will get someone in, I have both zipper windows and the swiss knife!

geiman Sorry to hear about that man. I'd exhaust all of my options before I went with full soft doors. Speaking from experience they can make for a very cold winter.

If I was you I'd broaden my search to look for doors in black as well. The black will at least match; that's what I ended up doing with my white Jeep.

Keep an eye out here:

D A V E Y S J E E P S . C O M - Parts Specials

you might be able to snag a set of doors that work good for you; you can also call/email them and they might keep an eye out for you. They're very nice to work with.

Good luck.
