2001 TJ Heater Advice -- Troubleshoot

Hey Guys,

I am new to this forum. I just joined today.

I own a 2001 Jeep TJ Wrangler for the past 10 years. I need some help to troubleshoot my heater problem. I am hoping it's only a simple part to replace.

Here's the background to the problem.

I did a cross country check from Seattle to San Antonio a few years back in the middle of July. My TJ has AC. I never used it in the summer time prior to this. When I got to Palm Springs and western AZ it was 115 degrees and my AC was not working. I pulled into a service station and the guy told me he could "rig" my AC to work but all I would have was AC with no heat. I said I didn't care just get it working. When I got down to San Antonio I didn't need heat. Now I am living in Philly and need heat in this puppy.

My question is does it need a new switch of some sort? Is it easy to replace? As far as I know the heater works but the switch is just rigged to AC. I want to re-route it back to the heater.

Any help? AC is no fun in the winter time!!! lol.

Thanks in advance,
