I'll throw in my 2 cents, not being a Jeep expert by any means, but I do know cars and engines. I'd say that is probably normal for 5th gear in the 4 cylinder. In 5th gear at highway speeds you are just running out of torque on the hills. Not a lot that can be done about that.

A few more questions on a 97 wrangler
I bought a 97 wrangler about 1 month ago. It has the 4.0 throttle body conversion on the 2.5- 4 banger. I notice It seems to have low power in 5th gear going up steep hills. It will climb in 4th fine is this normal. I also believe I have a small crack in the exhaust manifold. Could that cause me any issues before summer? I plan on replacing the manifold and was thinking of going with a header. or would stock be better? The jeep itself is pristine it has never been off road and well maintained. I will be hitting the trails in the summer but want to ensure I have everything ready. It has good oil pressure alternator just replaced steady temp and heat and no fluid leaking. I am really in love with her. any help would be great, Thanks Dave
